The southern peninsula's west coast: Uluwatu, Padang Padang, Bingin and Balangan, all left-hand reef breaks over coral. Dry season, April to October, with SE trades offshore. Mostly advanced; Dreamland and Thomas have gentler days.

The west-facing coast north of Seminyak, with beach breaks and a few reefs such as Batu Bolong, Echo Beach and Old Man's. Works year-round, best in the dry season with morning offshores. Suits beginners through intermediates.

The southeast coast, where reef breaks sit well offshore behind the fringing reef and are reached by boat. Best in the wet season, November to March, when west winds are offshore. Suits intermediate to advanced surfers.

The southeast tip of the peninsula, where reef breaks such as Sri Lanka and Nusa Dua Point break over coral. Best in the wet season, November to March, with a bigger swell window than the west coast. Suits intermediate surfers.

A small island southeast of Bali, reached by boat, with the reef breaks Shipwrecks, Lacerations and Playground. Best in the dry season, April to October, on SE trades. Suits intermediate to advanced surfers.
