Purnama is an intense reef slab that only breaks on solid swells, producing heavy, dredging barrels that are strictly for expert surfers.
A thick, slab-like right breaks over shallow coral. When it is on, Purnama delivers some of the heaviest barrels on the east coast - thick lips, shallow water, and serious consequences for wipeouts. This is not an everyday wave; it only turns on with specific conditions.
Wet season (October-March) with solid SE swells at 6ft+. Very specific tide window. W-NW offshore winds. May only break well a few dozen times per year.
