When a solid SW swell hits the 6-8ft range, Padang Padang transforms into a thick, dredging barrel that throws far ahead of the wave face. The wave only truly works about 25 days per year when all conditions align - the right swell size, direction, and tide. The annual Rip Curl Padang Padang Cup waits for these rare windows.
Needs solid SW swell of 6ft+ to start breaking properly. Mid tide on the incoming push is the sweet spot. Too low and the reef is exposed; too high and it loses shape. SE trade winds keep it clean.
