Sandbar is one of the most misunderstood waves in Canggu - its beach break appearance hides a steep, powerful left that regularly catches intermediate surfers off guard.
A steep, fast left breaks over sand with real power. The takeoff is critical - late drops result in heavy wipeouts. Despite being a beach break, the wave has reef-like power due to the sandbar formation. Barrels are common but unforgiving.
Dry season (April-October) with solid SW swells at 4-6ft. Low to mid tide when the sandbar creates the steepest faces. SE offshore winds.
Beach access from the Echo Beach area, just south of the main break.
